Lantern Festival Trade Fair

　　The lantern festival is a traditional folk-custom culture activity with a long history in China.For more than a thousand years it has become a custom for chinese of making lanterns and visiting lanterns during the Spring Festival.Zigong----an ancient city with thousands of year,is the place where this traditional folk-custom inherits and develops .
　　Starting from the Tang and Song Dynasties till 1950s Zigong Lantern Festival was only a pure ancient color lantern culture activity as in other areas in China.As a real modern color lantern art it started from the Spring Festival in 1964,making the color lantern art a national cultural components which combine the poetry, calligraphy, drawing, music, dance, theater and literature.It also became a modern technology components integrating machinery,electronics,acoustics,optics,architecture and materials into an integral whole,showing its distinct artistic features.
　　But before 1986,each Spring lantern festival is the only pure regional and recreational activities. With the reform and development in China, such regional activities with no any influence can not satisfy the need.
　　During Spring Festival in 1987 Zigong regional lantern festival renamed as the Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival and Trade Fair.Its aim is to make use of the lantern as a medium to make friends all over the world, to promote economy and to develop Zigong,making the lantern festival attract visitors all over the world and combine culture exchange with trade fair.
　　Zigong lantern festival will become a functional components and a large public activity promoting the big development of local economy, culture and tourism.
